The Women

If I ever write for a rag--explore & maybe exhaust my journalistic efforts--the list of publications I so desire to see my name attached to are as follows: (in no particular order)
Town & Country
Huffington Post
The Hollywood Reporter

If you're anything like me, you love the latest dirt on all the celebs--you live for the thrill of the hunt!
Okay, maybe just me, but that's a mute point.

Each year during Emmy Season (mark your calendars for September 22!), THR hosts the Emmy Roundtable Series; six of Hollywood's best TV actresses (the boys have their table too, but who cares) swap stories that make them seem, if only briefly, like relatively normal, average Jane's. Quite endearing, if I do say so myself.

Last year's Emmy Roundtable: Drama Actresses boasted some greats--Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, our girl January Jones, Kyra Sedgewick, just to name a few--and, if possible, this year's group raised the bar.

We're talking Parenthood's Monica Potter (who is very difficult to distinguish from a one Christina Braverman, but don't tell her I said that), Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss, Nashville's Connie Britton, Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn, Scandal's Kerry Washington (you guys, I've hooked almost all of my friends. I have good taste!), & House of Cards' Kate Mara.

See what I mean?

I don't think you're ready.

The magazine spread is great & all, but the real kicker? The full, uncensored chat with the leading ladies for our viewing pleasure.
Seriously, it's good.

Running from the paparazzi, horrible jobs pre-Hollywood, Monica Potter's cancer scare, social media woes...makes them sound terribly normal, in an A-list celebrity type of way.

"Don't worry about hitting the bull's eye, just get the dart on the board."
If you say so!

Keeping Up With the Joneses

Just one actually.
January to be specific.

I'm a huge fan of Mad Men. Yeah, yeah, so most of the time I feel like I need to take a squeegee to my television screen in an effort to break through the haze of nicotine smoke that the associates at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce can't seem to get enough of, but, c'est la vie. Does watching Mad Men automatically make you a secondhand smoker? God bless the 1960s.

The Edit, Net-A-Porter's weekly online glossy, struck gold with cover girl January Jones in this past week's issue. In 'Why, Miss Jones', the gowns are gorgeous & you feel like you're looking at Betty Drap--um, Francis herself, not the actress who becomes her. The editorial isn't so bad either.

Since we're here, you might as well Mad Men Yourself.
Never disappoints. Trust me.

"I've got moves you've never seen."

It's back!
Last night, So You Think You Can Dance hit the airwaves with its premiere episode of its 10th season of pasadobles, pirouettes, pop, lock & drop its (not apologizing for that one). SYTYCD serves as the bridge over troubled waters that is the summer hiatus for all my favorite Primetime shows. Seriously. Season finales are airing like crazy & I'm not okay with it.

Excited for this season for a multitude of reasons.
1. 10th Season? Surely it'll be bigger & better.
2. Guest judges include newcomers Wayne Brady & Minnie Driver, amongst some of my other favs (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kenny Ortega, Christina Applegate).
3. tWitch & Allison are engaged! God Bless America. I'm expecting (read: demanding) a huge performance by the two of them. Maybe something like this?

Can't wait to see which routines are brilliant enough to be added to this list of favorites!

Gravity, Kayla & Kupono
Season 5
Weep every single time.

My Homies Still, Witney & tWitch
Season 9
Not a huge Witney fan until this performance. If there's one thing in the world I wish I could do, it's the above.

Mercy, Katee & tWitch
Season 4

Cracks, Melanie
Season 8
The ONLY solo that's stuck with me from any season. Always my favorite!

Power, Lauren & tWitch
Season 7

I'm noticing that the common denominator seems to be tWitch. I can assure you--that was not intentional.

Poison & Wine, Top 8
Season 8

Torn, Top 20
Season 9
Best Top 20 performance to date.

If you need me, I'll be in the dance studio.
Ha!

Ga-Ga for Gatsby

The Glitz. The Glam. The Gold.
The Grit. The Grime. The Gin.
The Get Ups.
The Grace.
And then lack thereof.

It's Prohibition, boys & girls, and it's never been so dazzling.

Safe to say Gatsby's got the whole world in a tizzy.
With all the fanfare, all I can hear is, "Everyone who's anyone can be Gatsby!"
How 21st Century of us.

Where do we even begin?

Let's see.
There was Vogue.

Funny you should mention those amazing clothes because take a look at the Brooks Brothers Madison Ave. Flagship Store!

I almost expect Daisy & Tom & Jordan & Nick & the whole gang to just waltz in any minute.

Can't forget the Tiffany Windows!

I mean...really?

Oh & what about Prada's Gatsby Fest?

Catherine Martin & Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby. And dress them, they did.
The exhibition will be at the Prada Epicenter in Soho until May 12th. When you stop by, make sure you bring me back a souvenir.

And, of course, The Fitzgerald Suite at The Plaza. Swoon.

They pulled out all the stops to celebrate this cinematic masterpiece. And rightly so, considering the hotel is the backdrop for the storyline's pinnacle moment. There's Gatsby Hour at The Rose Club, new duds inspired by the film & the Fitzgeralds themselves in The Plaza Boutique, & Jazz Age Chocolate BonBons in The Palm Court.
I imagine Eloise is having a raw-ther good time. Fun, Fun, Fun.

I've never been as excited for anything in my life. Seriously.
What am I most excited for? asks you.

The Soundtrack. (Florence + the Machine, Jay-Z, Fergie, Gotye...not exactly 1920s Jazz but who cares.)
The Costumes. Catherine Martin needs Oscar nods.
But mostly? The Story.
After all, it is the great American novel (along with 17 other literary achievements, but who's counting.)

It almost gives me heart palpitations.
If you end up at the midnight premiere, I'll be the dame dolled-up in the drop-waist sequins doing the Charleston.
Ab-so-lute-ly!
